Our Values

Through our work, we endeavor to eliminate prejudice, stigma and violence. Our broad range of services has a common foundation which includes the following values that guide us:

  • Hope
  • Respect
  • Commitment
  • Progress

In accordance with our values, we use Best Practice Models whenever possible in our service delivery and utilize a Strengths Based Approach which focuses on a person’s abilities, aptitudes, talents and supports as opposed to concentrating only on deficiencies.

Tremendous advances have been made in the treatment of mental illness in the last decade. We strive for:

  • Early identification
  • Least invasive or restrictive treatments
  • Most responsive and effective interventions

Our services reflect a comprehensive, flexible and individualized approach for adults, families, and youngsters - addressing mental health needs through support, rehabilitation and treatment. In addition to our agency-based programs, we continue our decades-long tradition of reaching out to families and individuals by providing services in their homes, nursing homes, homeless shelters and other community sites. We are determined to ensure that everyone who needs help has equal access to mental health services. Over 70% of the people we serve are from low-income, working families who have inadequate or no mental health coverage.

Our Staff and Service Providers

Our professional staff and volunteers are dedicated to the families and individuals with whom they work. Important components of our success and commitment are the competency, creativity, flexibility, and energy of these staff, which includes:

  • Board certified psychiatrists
  • New York State licensed clinical psychologists
  • New York State certified social workers
  • Case managers
  • Certified rehabilitation counselors
  • Certified vocational counselors

Staff members have training and experience working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors and families. The agency as a whole employs an ongoing process of evaluation in order to improve services and develop staff through training and supervision. Services are available in English, Spanish and other languages.
