Internship Training Program
The MHA Internship Training Program provides professional experiences for students at the graduate or post-graduate level, as required by their intended degree, prior to licensure.
Annually, MHA accepts approximately 10 trainees who are enrolled in social work, education, mental health counseling, or psychology academic programs which culminate in MSW/DSW, MHC, MSEd/EdD, and Psy.D./Ph.D. degrees. Typically, interns are placed for 10 – 12 months in MHA’s programs Clinical, Advocacy, Case Management, or Rehabilitation Services. Each trainee’s activities, time commitment, and supervision are structured to satisfy their respective academic programs and the needs of the placement.
Trainees participate in training seminars, supervision, staff meetings, and client-related service delivery activities. In addition, throughout the training year, each trainee has opportunities to attend a variety of agency and community sponsored professional development events. Finally, each trainee is encouraged to participate in supplemental training opportunities available through varied agency initiatives and commensurate with their experience and/or interests.
MHA also hosts international students for training opportunities, employs post-doctoral level clinicians working and training under the supervision and guidance of licensed psychologists, and welcomes trainees enrolled in medical programs when applicable (including Psychiatric Nursing and Psychiatry).
