Services for Children with Emotional and Behavioral Issues
MHA provides individualized, community-based care coordination and case management services to children and their families, where a child’s serious emotional disturbance threatens a family’s ability to keep the child at home.
Services
MHA’s trained care coordinators and case managers meet regularly with children and families to develop service plans, identify community supports and advocate for needed supports. Plans are developed to meet the unique needs, and build upon the specific strengths of each child and family. Collaboration and cross systems planning with schools, mental health treatment providers, probation, Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS), respite and recreation are essential features of Children’s Case Management.
Services are mobile to meet the individual needs of children and their families and are provided in the home or a community-based location such as a health care center, school, or shelter, wherever staff can best meet the individual’s needs.
Services are appropriate for a child or adolescent (ages 5 to 17), who has documented serious behavioral or emotional difficulties that have led to psychiatric hospitalization or put the child at risk of out of home placement.
