Westchester Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect (WTFCAN)
This coalition, founded in 1977 and co-sponsored by the Child Care Council of Westchester and MHA, brings together representatives from public and private agencies and community organizations as well as individuals who are concerned about child abuse and neglect in Westchester County.
Goals
- To promote communication among public and private agencies and to ensure the development of needed programs
- To advocate for reform in social policies, administrative regulations and legislation in order to promote the safety and protection of children
- To develop educational programs for the professional community and the general public
- To recognize those who make outstanding contributions in the field of child abuse and neglect prevention
Activities
- Publishing and distributing prevention information flyers
- Planning and sponsoring public forums
- Reviewing legislation for advocacy
- Advocating for systems reform
- Annual Recognition Event to recognize individuals in Westchester County who make outstanding contributions in the field of child abuse and neglect prevention.

WTFCAN has recently revised our Resource Book: Westchester Community Resources (PDF) which lists Westchester County departments and agencies that provide services to children and families, produced by WTFCAN for use by Mandated Reporters.
