Our Training Institute

The goal of the Training Institute is to provide a series of training opportunities to mental health professionals as well as to the community.

Is It For Me?

The focus is on presenting programs with practical applicability - programs that really make a difference for mental health professionals and others in the community interested in mental health. For information about the Training Institute, please call our Information and Referral Services at 914-345-5900, extension 240, or e-mail us at help@mhawestchester.org.

What We Deliver

MHA sponsors conferences addressing the professional development needs of mental health professionals and other service providers as well as offers a Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship and an MSW Internship.

Throughout the year, the Training Institute presents a course in the Identification and Reporting of Abuse and Maltreatment. This course is required by New York State for all mandated reporters of abuse. We also offer training in School Violence Prevention and Intervention required for New York State certification as a teacher, teacher assistant, pupil personnel services professional and school administrator.

For upcoming dates of both courses, please check our Events Calendar. For registration material, please contact our Information and Referral Services by phone at 914-345-5900, extension 240 or by e-mail at help@mhawestchester.org.

In accordance with the MHA commitment to quality service provision and continued professional development, the Training Institute now includes a Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship Program. Students pursuing a doctoral degree in psychology can obtain comprehensive information about this program by accessing the Internship Training Handbook in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Questions regarding the internship program or other graduate training opportunities can be directed to Ruth Nirenberg, PsyD, at nirenber@mhawestchester.org.

Films may be borrowed for viewing. To obtain a full list of available films please check our Film Library.

We have also expanded our selection of informational brochures and fact sheets on a wide range of issues related to mental health. These can be obtained through our Information and Referral Office at 914-345-5900, extension 240 or via e-mail at help@mhawestchester.org.

Upcoming events are posted in the What's New section as well as on the Events Calendar under "Training". The calendar is updated on a continuing basis, so keep checking.
