Rutherford House

Rutherford House is an Apartment Treatment Program (ATP) licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Rutherford House provides transitional housing for 19 women in two sites - one a congregate residence for 11 women, the other a building with three apartments housing eight women.

Is It For Me?

Residents of Rutherford House must:

  • Be women 18 years or older
  • Have a serious mental illness
  • Be referred by Westchester County's Single Point of Access Committee

Rutherford House ATP is for women who need support and staff supervision to maintain a high level of functioning in daily living, emotional stability and movement towards a more independent setting. To begin the process of applying for the Apartment Treatment Program, you must first file an application with Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health. What We Deliver

Residents receive assistance in developing goals in areas such as:

  • Medication management
  • Daily living skills
  • Assertiveness/self advocacy
  • Skill development
  • Community integration
  • Symptom management
  • Socialization
  • Health services
  • Community integration

In the congregate residence for 11 women, staff members visit the residents each day.

The eight women in the three apartments receive visits from staff members based on their current need, but not less than twice each week.

Rutherford House is an Apartment Treatment program licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health.

Where

Both Rutherford House sites are in White Plains, NY.

When

Both sites are served by staff 24-hours a day, seven days per week. The Director of Housing is also available by cell phone 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Languages Spoken

Services are available in English.

Assessments can be done in other languages as needed.

Cost

Residents of Rutherford House pay $872 per month. When living in Rutherford House, residents receive an increased amount of SSI and/or SSD ranging from $980 to $1,000 per month.

Staff/Service Providers

Our staff includes a bachelor’s level Director and full-time Residence Counselors. Many of our Residence Counselors have bachelor’s degrees and are enrolled in graduate programs. There are also part-time overnight Residence Counselors who have high school diplomas or some college and experience in the mental health field.

Rutherford House is supervised by our Assistant Executive Director and Director of Housing who holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
