giving treeThe Sterling Legacy Circle of MHA Westchester

The Mental Health Association of Westchester invites you to become a member of The Sterling Legacy Circle.

Change the world with us.

  • Develop ever more effective crisis services so that MHA remains the first and best hope to individuals and families at their most vulnerable moments.
  • Create more housing and job opportunities to those getting back on their feet.
  • Expand our peer services which are showing so much promise in reaching and improving lives.
  • Provide more innovative recovery-oriented services that inspire hope.

We can do it with your help.

Through your generosity and vision, you will help to build a solid foundation for growth, ensuring the continuation of the essential and life-saving work of MHA. If MHA is to continue to serve all who come to our door, we must fortify our resources.

There is no minimum financial commitment. There are no dues or fees. With your Sterling Legacy membership, you will be invited to a members-only event each year.

Your gift will help us:

  • Develop ever more effective crisis services so that MHA remains the first and best hope to individuals and families at their most vulnerable moments.
  • Create more housing and job opportunities to those getting back on their feet.
  • Expand our peer services which are showing so much promise in reaching and improving lives.
  • Provide more innovative recovery-oriented services that inspire hope.

For more information, contact our Development department at 914-265-7512 or development@mhawestchester.org.

Creating a legacy gift is as easy as:

  • Making a gift to MHA in your will or trust.
  • Creating a lead trust for the benefit of MHA.
  • Naming MHA as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or retirement plan.

Benefits of making a bequest are:

  • Heirs will not be taxed on a bequest.
  • A bequest will not affect your cash flow or assets during your lifetime.
  • An outright gift from your estate is entirely free from federal estate taxes and generally not subject to state inheritance or estate taxes.
  • Assets such as retirement plans or life insurance policies might be subject to income and estate taxes if bequeathed to heirs. If bequeathed to MHA Westchester, the taxes are eliminated and free of probate.

You should consult your tax, legal or financial advisor concerning the specific details and consequences of making a bequest to MHA.

John & Margaretta Pike: A Shared Legacy

John and Margaretta Pike

Dr. John Pike, and his wife Margaretta, decided long ago to leave a portion of their estate to MHA. As John tells it, “Marg looked at what she saw as the pressing issues in her community and thought that MHA was engaged in actively trying to address them. Further, she felt if you see positive results, you should support those efforts.” It was through long discussions with Marg, knowing they had provided for their heirs, that they decided to also insure support for the organizations they cared about most.
