Family Abuse Court Services (FACS)

The Family Abuse Court Services Program (FACS) trains community volunteers to help any individual seeking an order of protection from the Family Courts in White Plains or Yonkers. FACS assists individuals and families torn by domestic violence who seek relief through the courts.

Family Abuse Court Services help victims of domestic abuse negotiate the court system. Many individuals experience fears, confusion and frustration while seeking services to protect themselves and their families.Staff provides the following services:

  • Assist in safety planning
  • Calm victims in crisis
  • Explain the court process
  • Provide emotional support
  • Accompany clients into court
  • Discuss and explore options individuals may have available to them
  • Connect victims to shelters, medical services, counseling, resources for financial assistance, legal services, crime victim's compensation and lock replacement services
