MHA Announces Appointment of Barbara Bernstein, PhD, MPH to Role of Chief Planning Officer
The Mental Health Association of Westchester (MHA) is pleased to name Dr. Barbara Bernstein to the newly created position of Chief Planning Officer.
Dr. Bernstein has been a long-time member of the MHA family, providing valued expertise and leadership of agency-wide initiatives, initiation of innovative practices, and development of the critical area of staff and professional development. She has brought a specific focus on suicide awareness, prevention and postvention to our extended community.
Helping Kids at Risk: Upcoming Trainings This Spring
In an effort to enhance the safety and well-being of children in Westchester County, The Mental Health Association of Westchester offers several services to support these children. Our Court Appointed Special Advocate and Host Visitation volunteer opportunities prepare individuals to help children in foster care or at risk of placement. Upcoming ASIST and safeTALK trainings this month
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and safeTALK are both appropriate for all members of the community regardless of prior experience or training. They share the premise that most people who have thoughts of suicide do not fully want to die but are struggling with pain in their lives, and that through their words and actions, invite help to stay alive. ASIST is also appropriate for professionals of all disciplines who can enhance their skills with these trainings.
Betty Bloch Family Support Fund Announced at MHA
For the past seven years, Betty Bloch made an incredible impact on the lives of children and families throughout Westchester through her work as MHA’s Family Support Specialist. We are deeply saddened by her passing on December 14, 2017, and as an agency, we are reminded to come to work loving what we do and whom we do it with.
